As older workers in Iowa are losing their jobs due to the financial crisis, some former employees are starting new
businesses. And according to a new study by the Kauffmann Institute, Des Moines
is one of the best cities for older new business owners.

The study was conducted over the past 10 years and found
that entrepreneurial activity is highest among those between the ages of 55 and
64. As part of the study, Des Moines was highlighted for offering favorable
loan programs for new entrepreneurs.
