House Approves Consumer Fraud Lawsuit Measure

On Monday, the Iowa House of Representatives approved a measure to allow consumer fraud lawsuits by a 95-1 vote. This measure would allow victims of consumer fraud to sue for damages.

Currently, 49 other states have similar laws, making Iowa the only state without it. Unfortunately, the bill must now go to the Senate where it has an uncertain future. If the bill is passed, it will put a 2 year statute of limitations on cases and will not apply retroactively.
