Emerson has announced that they will be selling LANDesk software to Thoma Bravo, a private firm.

LANDesk software, is a information technology systems management company, is based in Salt Lake City and made $150 million revenue in 2009.
The announcement of the sale occurred on Monday, but the terms of the deal have not been disclosed. The final sale is set to be complete in September and the vice president of LANDesk will become the CEO after the sale.

NewAlliance Bank to be bought by company in Buffalo

A company in Buffalo, N.Y. will be acquiring the NewAlliance Bank in a $1.5 billion business transaction that was complete today.

The merged banks, NewAlliance Bank and First Niagara Financial Group Inc., are now one of the nation’s 25 largest banks. The NewAlliance Bank is based in Connecticut and was formed in 2004.

It now 88 branches in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The president and CEO of First Niagara announced that he is excited to join the forces and thinks that the potential to grow is tremendous.

Money trading business owner charged with fraud

The owner of a money transfer business has been accused of fraud after luring in investors with fake business deals and guaranteeing monthly returns that the investors never received.

The man, who owned and operated Shidaal Express Inc., told investors that they would received $500 for every $10,000 that they invested. He also led investors to believe that he was in experienced stock trader that had being doing it for many years and that there maximum loss would be less than 20 percent of their investment. In reality, the man lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in the stock market and traded his losses by paying investors.

Bankruptcy court approves sale of newspaper

A federal bankruptcy court approved the sale of an Ohio-based newspaper chain, Brown Publishing Co. A group of people within the company, led by the current president, wanted to purchase the media company.

The court approved the $26 million sale of the company and ruled the chain could be purchased for $22.4 million. The chain involves papers in Ohio, New York, South Carolina, Iowa, Illinois, and Colorado. The judge did deny the purchase of three properties with the newspaper because she said that they were not marked at the highest price possible.

Many were happy with the sale because it would save over 800 jobs. Brown Media Holdings Co., which is now Brown Publishing Co., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy relief in May. Brown is the most recent publishing company that has filed for bankruptcy.
